Turtle Rock

For nearly a century the village of Turtle Rock (named after a giant turtle-shaped rock formation) has been home to seven families. Originally fleeing war, they moved to this mountainous region and have eked out a simple life ever since. Filmed delicately from afar in black and white and incorporating a naturalistic soundtrack, this beautiful observational documentary captures the rhythm and remote-ness of the residents’ lives as they weather the four seasons.
