Cairo Station (Bab el-Hadid)
Crippled newspaper dealer Kinawi plies his trade at the main railroad station in Cairo. He is madly in love with beautiful lemonade seller Hanuma, who leads him on, yet refuses to succumb to his attentions. When Kinawi announces he intends to marry Hanuma, she responds by claiming to be betrothed to his rival Abu Sri'. Driven mad with desire, the newspaper dealer decides to kill the woman he loves, so that nobody else should have her.
