Saturday Night Adult Playground
The lights are down, the music is loud, the drinks are flowing and some of the most legendary techno names from Britain, Europe and the States have come to make sure you’ll see the sunrise come Sunday morning.
This weekend The Playground is proud to present one of the most outstanding techno and house events of the year. Kicking off the out all night spirit from 10pm to 4am this Saturday at KOKO in Camden is an event featuring the mighty likes of James Lavelle (UNKLE), Derrick May, A Guy Called Gerald, (Live in Session) Barem, French Kiwi Juice, (aka FKJ) Richard Fearless (Drone/DEATH IN VEGAS) and last but certainly not least, Last Magpie.
Perhaps most notable for those of us seasoned enough to remember the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Detroit music scene is Derrick May, the man who is often credited with developing what we know as modern techno with the help of Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, also known as the Belleville Three.
Equally important in the creation of today’s brand of techno is James Lavelle, co-founder of the electronic music label Mo’ Wax that in 1996 released one of alternative hip hop’s most noted albums, DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing.
It is worth mentioning that the evening is going to be filmed by none other than the Wachowskis, who are known as the fine directors responsible for bringing us films such as the Matrix Trilogy. They will be filming for an upcoming ‘sci-fi epic,’ so be aware that by buying tickets you are giving your consent to be shown on film.
For a late night and very early morning of legendary techno and the chance to spot yourself on the big screen in the Wachowski’s next sci-fi flick, ten pounds really isn’t too steep a price to pay. Check out the venue for more details or get tickets directly from The Playground right here.
