Tracy Letts adapts his creepy 2004 play, which centres on Aggie, a restless woman who is being terrorized by a series of anonymous phone calls. Aggie suspects that her vicious ex-husband, Jerry, who is about to be released from prison, is to blame and she nervously awaits his arrival at her motel room sanctuary. With her nerves shot to pieces, Aggie welcomes a handsome U.S. army officer called Peter into her life. As the misfits bond, his paranoia gradually infects Aggie, driving the pair of them to experience terrifying visions.
