When A Woman Ascends The Stairs
Re-release of the 1960 drama set in Tokyo's bustling Ginza district, which charts the fortunes of hostess Keiko, who earns a comfortable living by tending to the needs of rich businessmen. Faking feelings for each of her clients, Keiko invariably develops emotional attachments to some of the men and as her years begin to catch up with her, she must contemplate marriage as a means to survive in a city where beauty and youth are for sale.
