Viago is a 379-year-old vampire, who lives in the suburbs of Wellington with fellow bloodsuckers Vladislav, Deacon and Petyr - the latter an 8,000-year-old creature of the night, who lives in a stone coffin in the basement. Deacon's human helper Jackie, who has been promised immortality for her services, delivers two unsuspecting human sacrifices and Petyr sinks his fangs into university student Nick, who becomes the latest addition to the nest.
