Becoming an adult, whatever that means, is supposed to happen on our eighteenth birthday – or so we are led to believe. It is during her celebration of this confusing and symbolic milestone that we are introduced to the protagonist of ABOVE THE CLOUDS, Charlie, who we find to be unsatisfied with her monotonous job and unsupportive parents.
