Sophie's Ways
Céline is a free-spirited, sexually liberated woman who embarks upon a relationship with the bourgeois Philippe that is doomed from the start. Céline struggles to live within her newly found confines, before reasserting her freedom through writing (a text on ‘female sexuality’), art and love affairs.
A car crash starts and ends this prophetic film, which was made in Paris in 1970. An excellent cast led by Bernadette Lafont (as Céline) and Michel Duchaussoy (as Philippe) seamlessly weave the themes of sexuality, art, truth, love and music throughout the film.
