Springtime In A Small Town
During the Chinese depression of 1946, Liyan and his loyal wife Yu Wen retire to what remains of their decimated community. He claims to be suffering from a strange illness which confines him to the house and she dutifully tends to his every need, as well as looking after his energetic young sister Xiu. Springtime arrives early in the village when Liyan's childhood pal Zhang comes for a visit. Now a doctor, Zhang soon helps Liyan rediscover his lust for life and brings happiness back into Yu Wen's menial life.
