This film is based on the lawsuit of queer filmmaker Popo Fan against the SARFT (State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, Television) of the People’s Republic of China. The film in question – Mama Rainbow – tells the story of 6 Chinese mothers accepting their children as gay, which was deleted on Chinese video websites in December 2014.
