The Cancer Journals Revisited
“I am not only a casualty,” wrote Audre Lorde in her Cancer Journals, “I am also a warrior.” This documentary revisits the words of Lorde’s book to offer a fresh queer feminist critique about how illness is politicised. Lin’s film adds discussions around intersectionality, health and body politics to Lorde’s original timeless writing, which is recited by 27 artists, activists, health care advocates and patients, including Barbara Hammer.
