Amour Fou
In early 19th century Berlin, German poet Heinrich von Kleist attempts to forge a suicide pact with his cousin Marie in order to defy the inevitability of death. She turns down his invitation and Heinrich is wounded by her lack of empathy until he meets Henriette, the wife of his business acquaintance Vogel. She beguiles Heinrich and when he learns that Henriette has a terminal illness, he senses a kindred spirit, who might indulge his suicidal whim.
